Dozens of North Sea jobs at risk as major oil company announces shake-up plans

Dozens of North Sea jobs were facing the axe today after a major firm announced plans to shake up its North-east operations.

Staff at BHGE in Bridge of Don and Montrose, which was launched in July following a merger between GE Oil & Gas and Baker Hughes, are facing 45-day consultation periods after which they may be required to work notice periods.

RMT Union chief Jake Molloy said: “It’s devastating news for everyone concerned, and it makes it all the more personal close to Christmas.”
