Dons fans urged to make extra time to get to Aberdeen v Celtic clash

Football fans have been urged to allow extra time to arrive at Pittodrie today as the Dons face Celtic.

Police Scotland is urging people to allow extra time to get to the stadium as there will be an increase in traffic and the potential for adverse weather conditions.

Additional police resources including the mounted branch and dog unit will be deployed ahead of today’s match which kicks off at 1.30pm.

Match Commander Chief Inspector Murray Main said: “A security operation will be in place both in and around Pittodrie and fans will be searched on their way in.

“Alcohol is not permitted within the stadium and those who arrive at the grounds in an intoxicated state will not be allowed entry.

“The City Centre and Seaton areas as well as the area around the stadium will be busier and we ask that members of the public and the community are mindful of this and bear with us while the policing operation is ongoing.

“There will be additional police deployed and if you have any queries or concerns you can speak to any officer.”
