Dogs thriving after being rescued from Thai centre

Two dogs rescued from Thailand kennels are thriving in the North-east.

Sophie and Bintang had been in danger of being turned into dog meat by criminals trying to smuggle them into Vietnam.

But they were stopped by authorities at the border and the dogs were held in a centre housing more than 5,000 animals.

Jacqui Kelly’s “heart broke” when she saw photos of the animals and she paid the £700 adoption fee to have them flown to the UK to start a new life in Keith.
