THE coastguard have carried out a rope rescue to save a distressed dog at Slains Castle this afternoon.
Two teams, one from Peterhead and the other from Cruden Bay, received an emergency call at around 2pm.
It is understood the animal fell over a wall at the castle and became stranded on the cliff.
A spokesman for the coastguard said: “We received a call from a member of the public regarding a dog which had become stranded after a fall.
“Our teams carried out a rope rescue operation to get the dog back to safety.”
The Jack Russell/West Highland Terrier cross was safely reunited with its owner a short time later.
