A decision to continue funding the Aberdeen International Youth Festival (AIYF) has been delayed until Monday.
Last month, the city council’s education committee decided it should no longer make an annual contribution to festival funds.
Since then supporters of the event have been vocal on asking councillors to think again after festival bosses indicated it may struggle to continue if funding is pulled.
The festival, which has been supported by the council for 45 years, usually received £123,000 last year, and £129,000 last year.
The city council’s finance committee voted nine to eight in favour of setting up a new £100,000 fund for local cultural groups in the city instead of funding the festival.
But following the vote opposition SNP and Liberal Democrat councillors, who wanted the council to continue funding the festival until at least 2019/20, voted for the decision to be moved to full council.
