THE hunt is on to fill the shoes of two former Aberdeen councillors elected to Westminster this month.
By-elections will be held on Thursday, July 30, for Aberdeen South MP Callum McCaig’s former Nigg and Cove ward and Aberdeen North MP Kirsty Blackman’s former Hilton, Woodside and Stockethill ward.
A third by-election will be held after George Street and Harbour Cllr Andy May, SNP, announced his retirement.
No date has yet been set but a by-election must be held by October.
An Aberdeen City Council spokesman confirmed the dates of the two by-elections had been set.
He said: “Two local government by-elections for Aberdeen City Council will be held on July 30.
“The vacancies were created by the resignations of SNP councillors Callum McCaig and Kirsty Blackman, who were elected as MPs, for Aberdeen South and Aberdeen North respectively, at the UK parliamentary election on May 7.
“Details of polling places will be announced at a later date.”
