A man caught with a crossbow has been given unpaid work.

Jamie Reid, 34, previously pled guilty to possession of the weapon as well as driving without insurance on Baker Street, Aberdeen, on November 4.

At Aberdeen Sheriff Court on Wednesday, Sheriff Ian Wallace ordered Reid, of Craigie Street, Aberdeen, to carry out 80 hours of unpaid work and be supervised for eight months.

He also granted a motion for forfeiture of the item. Defence agent Tony Burgess previously said Reid had borrowed the vehicle and was planning to sell the bow.
