A drink-driver has been fined and banned from the road after crashing his Jaguar.

Peter Eadsforth, 44, had been at a friend’s house drinking and watching rugby before later getting behind the wheel of his Jaguar on February 23 on Lawrence Road in Insch.

Depute fiscal Lynne MacVicar told Aberdeen Sheriff Court: “On the date libelled at around 8.50pm, police had been informed there had been a Jaguar motor car collide with street furniture at the locus. Two police constables attended and saw the vehicle still at the locus.

“A male approached one of the police officers and identified himself as the driver and voluntarily stated he’d consumed alcohol.”

Eadsforth pled guilty to driving with 41 microgrammes of alcohol in 100ml of breath.

The legal limit is 22 microgrammes.

Defence agent Liam Mcallister said: “It’s deeply frustrating for him. He’d made it to the age of 44 without any prior offending whatsoever. He made what is effectively a catastrophic decision, a misjudgment on his part.

“He’d been at a friend’s house earlier in the day, had been enjoying the rugby and some alcohol had been consumed. He voluntarily stated to police he’d made a misjudgment.”

Sheriff Ian Wallace ordered Eadsforth, whose address was given as Lawrence Road, Insch, to pay a fine of £500 and disqualified him from driving for 12 months.
