A north-east man has denied failing to seek veterinary treatment for three cows suffering from ingrowing horns.
Marshall Hay is accused of failings in relation to one cow between September 27 2017 and May 27 2018 in Methlick.
It is also alleged the 78-year-old made the same failings in relation to a further two cows between January 1 and June 1 this year.
All three animals were allegedly suffering from ingrowing horns which had penetrated their heads.
Hay, of Methlick, Aberdeenshire, is accused of causing the animals unnecessary suffering by failing to provide adequate care and treatment, and failing to seek veterinary advice and treatment.
He pleaded not guilty to the charges.
A trial date has been set for February 7, with a preliminary hearing date set for January 10.
