A man has been jailed for a year after being caught carrying a three-and-a-half-inch blade.
Edward McParland, 44, was found “standing in the middle of the road” when police arrived at Victoria Road, Torry, at 3pm on October 14.
Fiscal depute Jamie Dunbar told Aberdeen Sheriff Court McParland was detained and searched in relation to a separate matter.
He said: “During the course of the search a blade was found in his waist band.”
The knife had a blade of over three inches.
McParland, a prisoner of HMP Grampian, pled guilty to possession of a knife.

Defence agent John Ferrie said: “He has a real drink problem. On the day in question he’d been in his son-in-law’s van where he believes he picked up the knife from.
“He was extremely intoxicated on the day.”
Sheriff William Summers jailed McParland for 12 months.
