A woman has been given a restriction of liberty order after driving while disqualified to “test” brakes.

Stephanie McAllister, 32, appeared for sentencing over the matter on March 3 at the A96 Aberdeen to Blackburn road at the Craibstone Roundabout.

She previously admitted driving while disqualified, without insurance and taking the vehicle without consent.

Fiscal depute Felicity Merson said the car belonged to McAllister’s father and was kept at a scrapyard he owned.

Police stopped the vehicle at 9.30pm when checks revealed it was registered as off road.

Defence agent Peter Keene said McAllister is training to be a mechanic, adding: “She was learning about brakes and stupidly decided to take to the road to test these brakes.”

Sheriff Ian Wallace disqualified McAllister, of Arnage Drive, Aberdeen, for two years and handed her a five-month restriction of liberty order.
