A woman has been ordered to carry out unpaid work after spitting on a police officer.

Kim Ferguson, 33, spat at the female officer as she was removed from the back of a police van at Kittybrewster Police Office on February 7 last year.

Depute fiscal Christy Ward said: “The accused was arrested in relation to another matter and placed in the rear of a police van to be conveyed to Kittybrewster Police Office.”

She added: “Upon arrival an officer opened the rear door and on doing so the accused spat at her, striking her left leg.”

Ferguson pled guilty to assaulting the officer, and to failing to appear at court on another occasion.

Defence agent Iain Hingston said: “This is not the type of behaviour that she habitually indulges in and she apologies for that.”

Sheriff Ian Wallace ordered Ferguson, of West North Street, Aberdeen, to carry out 80 hours of unpaid work within five months.
