An Aberdeen mechanic has been handed a £600 fine after a workplace dispute turned violent.
Gary Winchester “lost it” and lashed out at his colleague, kicking and punching him as well as making racially offensive remarks.
The 56-year-old’s dispute with his colleague came to a head around 9.45am on October 1 at their workplace, Alex Aitken & Son Ltd on Greenbank Terrace in Aberdeen.
Depute fiscal Alan Townsend said the men “never got on” and Winchester made comments about the victim being Polish, which “alarmed” the man.
Mr Townsend added: “The accused punched him several times to the head area. He kicked him to the groin area and other members of staff were in the garage and came over to assist the complainer. As they were pulling the accused away, the accused spat at him.”
The man was left with pain in the groin area and his left ear.

Mr Townsend added Winchester told police the complainer had threatened his family and he “just lost it”.
Winchester, of Acorn Place, Portlethen, pled guilty to acting in a racially aggravated manner by making offensive remarks and assault to injury.
Defence agent Les Green said there had been a previous incident between the complainer and another employee and that his client had been standing up for him.
He added Winchester had been telling another colleague that he planned to resign when he saw the man “smiling at him”, which sparked the assault.
Sheriff Ian Wallace fined him £600.
