Aberdeen boxing fan bit cop after bouncers booted him out for being too drunk

A boxing bout turned violent when a drunken Aberdeen spectator tussled with door staff and bit a female police officer.

Ryan Wallace, 38, had gone to watch a boxing match at Westdyke Leisure Centre before bouncers booted him out for being too drunk.

But, enraged by the situation, Wallace struggled with door staff and tried to get back into the venue. And when police got involved, he kicked one officer and sunk his teeth into another.

Fiscal depute Karen Dow said: “At 9.30pm the accused came to the attention of a door steward by causing a disturbance in the toilet area. He had been assessed as being intoxicated and was ejected from the event.

“While outside, the accused continued to act aggressively and attempted to get back into the premises.”

During the episode Wallace smashed a glass bottle on the ground and pushed his partner.

He also told security staff he would “kill them”.

Police were called and when they arrived Wallace was being restrained by security. When handcuffs were applied he “kicked out, kicking one officer to the centre of his back”.

And while being restrained he made various threats including “I’m a monster” and “when you let go of me I’ll go through you” before lunging forward and biting a female officer on her lower leg.

Wallace pled guilty to threatening or abusive behaviour by struggling violently with door staff at the event on February 9.

He also admitted assaulting his partner by pushing her and assaulting two police officers.

Defence agent Gregor Kelly said: “He’s mortified at his conduct and I would submit it’s out of character.”

He added his client suffered from PTSD following a motorcycle crash in 2016.

He said: “As he was walking out of the toilet he was punched to the jaw. Door staff formed the opinion he was under the influence and ejected him.

“He recalls being separated from his wife and the red mist descending.”

Sheriff Philip Mann fined Wallace, of Lochinch Gardens, Cove, £875.
