Legal moves are to be taken to evict Travellers who have pitched up near Aberdeen Beach.
Aberdeen City Council today confirmed it is taking legal action after nine caravans arrived at King’s Links.
The Travellers, who are camped next to Linx Ice Arena, are believed to have come from France, Germany and Luxembourg.
The caravans and a number of cars can be seen in the car park next to the ice rink and Beach Leisure Centre.
In a bid to move the Travellers from the site the local authority is to lodge papers in court.
A council spokeswoman said: “Nine caravans comprising of Travellers from France, Germany, and Luxembourg have arrived on King’s Links. Aberdeen City Council will be lodging papers in court this week to move them on.”
When approached by the Evening Express the Travellers did not wish to comment.
Police Scotland Chief Inspector Kevin Wallace said: “We are aware of the situation and officers have already visited and assessed the site.”
He added: “We will continue to work closely with our partners at Aberdeen City Council to monitor the situation.”
