A council has started the eviction process after Travellers pitched up in a country park.
Aberdeenshire Council has started proceedings after two encampments sprung up at Balmedie Country Park, in a car park and next to a children’s play area.
There are concerns the sites, near Trump International Golf Links, could deter visitors over the Easter weekend.
Aberdeenshire Councillor for the area Allan Hendry said the council is seeking to have the Travellers removed.
He said: “No one is allowed to camp in the country park.
“This is not discrimination, the fact is it is not allowed for anyone and we are seeking an eviction order.
“They should not be there.”
An eviction order is to be sought at a Sheriff’s Court hearing on March 30, with a view to clearing the two sites.
The travellers did not wish to comment.
