Marischal College will be lit up in gold later this year.
The council headquarters will remain gold throughout September to highlight Childhood Cancer Awareness Month (CCAM).
George Street/Harbour Councillor Michael Hutchison requested the move after he was approached by his constituents.
Cllr Hutchison said: “It will be amazing to see Marischal College lit up gold as part of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, joining other landmarks all over the world.
“I was contacted by a woman who had lost her son to cancer and has become very passionate about raising awareness of Childhood Cancer.
“This is something that’s very important to her and will, no doubt, be important to many people across our city.
“Lighting up Marischal College will not just help raise awareness of childhood cancer and encourage people to wear a gold ribbon themselves, but will hopefully help increase the public support for charities such as CLIC Sargent who offer cancer support for the young and their families.”
