Thousands of north-east residents tonight joined a national applause in appreciation of NHS workers.
The communal “Clap for Carers” took place at 8pm and loud applause could be heard on streets throughout Aberdeen and the north-east.
Evening Express readers sent in videos from the Aberdeen Beach area to Alford.
Annemarie Plas, 36, from Brixton, London, came up with the idea after seeing something similar in her home country The Netherlands.

She said: “The front line is doing their best they can, being exposed to the virus.
“We are ‘safe’ at home and of course finding that challenging, but it is in no way as hard as what they are doing.
“And I want them to know that we are behind them and feel so grateful of them doing that for us.”
