Organisers of a flower show are worried its attendance will be hit by work being carried out on the Aberdeen bypass.
The Culter Flower Show takes place tomorrow at Culter Village Hall – the same day as the main road into the suburb is closed to traffic.
The A93 North Deeside Road was expected to close on the Milltimber side of its junction with the B979 Milltimber Brae, from about 8pm tonight until 6am on Monday. Diversions will be signposted.
Paula Silvester, vice-president of the Culter Flower Show, asked the public for their support. She said: “We are warning people that the road is closed this weekend and it will add extra time to the journey.
“We are asking that everyone who can support us does, as our worry is that numbers will be down due to the closure.
“We know the road has to close and I’m not criticising the workers or the AWPR but it does affect us and the show has been booked since September last year.
“We rely on our exhibitors and people coming through to our event.
“Many have supported us for years and we don’t want them turning away due to the closure.”
A Transport Scotland spokesman said: “These road closures have been timed to take place over a weekend to minimise any inconvenience to road users and the local community while these reconstruction works are being undertaken.
“A further road closure will be put in place in the coming months to complete these works.
“We would like to encourage road users who need to travel through or nearby this area to plan their journeys in advance and give themselves additional travelling time to reach their destination safely and on time.
“We would also like to thank road users and the local community for their ongoing support and patience during the construction works.”
The flower show takes place tomorrow. The doors open at 1.30pm.
