Trains have been delayed across the North-east after a cow was struck on the tracks.
It is understood that the bovine was hit just north of Montrose, near Laurencekirk earlier this afternoon.
The incident is set to cause delays in the region while workers deal with the incident.
The 5.26pm train from Glasgow Queen Street to Inverness via Aberdeen has been cancelled due to the problem.
A live travel update on Virgin Trains East Coast said: “14:52 Aberdeen to London Kings Cross due 22:13. This train is being delayed at Montrose.
“This is due to cattle on the railway. We are sorry for the inconvenience this has caused you today.”
A Virgin Trains’ spokesperson said: “There are currently delays to our services between Dundee and Aberdeen. We’re sorry for the inconvenience, anyone travelling with us this evening is advised to check our website or Twitter page for the latest updates.”
The condition of the cow is unknown.
