A community is set to host its first winter wonderland event next month.
Turriff will be treated to a special festive event on December 2, which will see The Den’s woodland lit up, as well as a range of activities take place.
Organiser Sam Lima, a teacher at Turriff Primary School, set up the Winter Wonderland Committee in February this year, with the entire event organised and run by volunteers from the community.
She said: “I went out to an event with lights and thought that it would be a good idea to do it in Turriff.
“We’ve fundraised throughout the year, and we started with small things like coffee mornings, then we had a 5k fun run at the Den.”
The group have taken on many other activities such as bag packing and fashion shows, but also received funding to help.
Sam said: “It starts at the central arch. “There’s going to be snow machines to create some atmosphere and the trees are all going to be lit with Christmas lights.
“There’s going to be schools performing, and there’ll be Rainbows and Brownies.”
Turriff Silver Band and magicians are set to perform on stage. Children can also look forward to Santa’s grotto and an elf’s workshop.
There will also be stalls in the St Andrews Church hall, selling a range of goods.
“The fundraising has been really well supported,” Sam added.
“We’ve got a really hardworking committee and everyone is excited and we want to put on the best event we can.”
