An application has been lodged to reopen an Aberdeen community’s post office.
Woodside Post Office was closed three years ago but now Sal Ahmad, who runs Berryden Post Office with her husband Zulfiquar, is interested in reopening the branch.
She said: “You can tell something is missing when you drive past where the post office used to be.
“We would love to bring our award-winning customer service to Woodside and we hope to have it up and running by Christmas.”
A Post Office spokeswoman said: “We have an interested applicant to re-open Woodside Post Office.
“We are progressing their application so we are unable to comment further at the moment.
“We are committed to restoring Post Office service to this area of Aberdeen, as we know how important this service is to the community.”

Chairwoman of Woodside Community Council Charlene Kilpatrick was pleased to see the process moving forward.
She said: “It will be great to have the service back in the heart of the community on Great Northern Road again and it might help to regenerate the street.”
Mark McDonald MSP, who represents the Aberdeen Donside constituency, said: “It would be great for Woodside to get its post office back.
“I know many residents were concerned when the service was lost, and a lot of people in the area would benefit from having it restored.”
