A community centre will get a £600,000 refurbishment to boost childcare services in the region.
The Lady Cathcart Community Centre in Buckie is poised to be overhauled with the complete renovation of the ground floor in the former school.
Once the six-month project is finished it will open up the possibility for the refitted nursery to run all year round for up to 10 hours a day.
Buckie councillor Sonya Warren said: “It’s a very welcome investment because, especially in Buckie, child care for young people is at capacity. “It’s very difficult to get places.”
Work on the refurbishment project is due to start before the end of next month and is expected to be finished in time for the start of term in August.
