Crowds gathered in Aberdeen city centre for a tree-rific time at the annual Christmas tree switch-on.
The Lord Provost of Aberdeen George Adam was joined by the Deputy Mayor of Stavanger Bjorg Tysdal Moe and singer Hanne Vasshus for a carol service for everyone to enjoy at the gathering.
The Norwegian community – Aberdeen’s twin town – donated the tree, which now bathes the Castlegate in its warm festive glow following the successful event.
It came as a number of exciting festive happenings were launching in the city.
The first sculpture in the twelve days of Christmas wooden carvings trail was unveiled yesterday, with people being encouraged to find the works as they are uncovered over the coming weeks. Today, Aberdeen’s Christmas tree maze was set to open, offering kids and adults alike a chance to make their way to the elves workshop and back.
Marischal College was lit up for the festive period yesterday and there are also Christmas trees on Broad Street.
