An Aberdeen man has appeared in court charged with attempted murder in connection with an incident which left another man seriously injured.
Police were called out after a man was assaulted in the Bedford Road area of the city just before 8pm on Monday.
He was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary to be treated for his injuries.
John Hildreth appeared in private at Aberdeen Sheriff Court charged in connection with the incident.
The 48-year-old is facing a charge of assault to severe injury, danger of life and attempted murder.
During the hearing he made no plea.
The case against him was committed for further examination.
A spokeswoman for the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service said Hildreth, whose general address was given as Aberdeen, was remanded in custody and is expected to appear in court again in the next week.
A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said: “A 48-year-old has appeared in court charged with attempted murder after a man was injured in Aberdeen.
“Officers were alerted to an incident in the Bedford Road area of Aberdeen at around 7.45pm on Monday evening during which a man was seriously assaulted.”
