A children’s charity has issued an urgent appeal for new volunteers so it can help more young people.
Aberdeen’s Childline currently has 145 counsellors, but needs more than 50 to reach out to youngsters who need someone to talk to.
Childline volunteer Siobhain Leith, 23, was presented with a Saltire Award by Aberdeen Central MSP Kevin Stewart earlier this year for her commitment to volunteering.
She said: “I started at Childline just over a year ago. I saw an advert from Childline founder Esther Rantzen and my mum and I looked at it and knew it was the right thing for me.
“I love being able to give something back and helping other people who are going through tough times.”
The city’s organisation is hosting a volunteer information meeting on June 21 between 6-8pm at Ruby Place in Aberdeen.
Those interested in finding out more on how to take part in the open day or what Childline does are asked to contact 01224 973 030.
