An Aberdeen children’s charity shop has announced it will close its doors for the last time.
After four years of trading, Befriend a Child, on Holburn Street, is shutting after the “hard economic conditions” in the city.
The shop’s final opening day will be October 12 and the charity is looking for donations of unwanted goods, except for furniture, electrical items and bedding.
CEO Sarah Misra said: “The hard economic conditions across the UK are being faced by retailers at both ends of the spectrum as we can see both premium and discount brands struggling.
“What’s more, we face competition for stock and customers from other charity shops across the region, many of which have a larger supporter base and network of operations behind the scenes, which give them an advantage.”
The closure will not affect the charity’s service delivery.
