A hearing will be held next week into plans to build more than 500 homes near Donald Trump’s north-east golf course.
Scheduled for Wednesday, it will discuss the planning application for the new development at the Menie Estate, near Balmedie.
Trump International Golf Links Ltd lodged plans in July to build 550 homes, including 50 hotel cottages, community facilities, shops, offices and infrastructure.
The hearings are a formal process which allows those who have already submitted valid representations, as well as the applicant and consultees, to express their views to councillors before any decision is taken.
It also provides an opportunity for councillors to seek clarity on the plans so they are fully informed.
More than 3,000 letters of objection have been submitted against the plans, with concerns over the lack of affordable or social housing.
Although no decision will be made on the application at the hearing, it will be minuted and all points raised will be placed before the Formartine area committee when it discusses it, before passing its view to the full council.
The hearing will be held at 6pm at Ellon Community Campus, with a site visit prior to this at 2pm.
