Community projects have a chance to bid for a slice of £66,000 earmarked for improving an area.

The money provided by Aberdeenshire Council’s Buchan area budget will be distributed by the Buchan Development Partnership (BDP) in two chunks.

There is £30,000 available for small projects.

Groups can apply for up to £4,000 after plans are drawn up and have received community backing.

Special attention will be given to schemes which encourage training for young people.

A separate pot of £36,000 will be set aside for “one or two larger capital projects” in the Peterhead area which build on ongoing social regeneration efforts in Buchan.

Liz Scott, development officer for BDP, said the fund has previously helped groups benefit their area and “develop strong projects”.

The closing date for the first round of applications is May 31.
