Watch: Car destroyed in fire near Aberdeen sport’s centre was stolen hours before

Police are investigating after a stolen car was torched in the early hours of this morning.

Officers revealed the vehicle, an Audi A3, was stolen from the Cummings Park area shortly before it was found on fire on Station Road, near the Woodside Sports Complex.

One appliance from Central Fire Station attended the incident which happened at 12.20am.

Police Scotland were also in attendance at the blaze, reporting one vehicle alight. Officers were initially unable to formally identify the vehicle at the time of the incident, due the heat of the car and lack of light.

They returned to Station Road this morning to gain access to the stolen car’s chassis number.

A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said: “We were called to the scene of a vehicle fire at 12.25am. The car was well alight when we arrived at the scene.

“The vehicle is an Audi A3 which was reported stolen from the Cummings Park area today.

“We are currently carrying out investigations.”
