A BUSY Aberdeen commuter route is to close for almost a week.
Broomhill Road will shut on Monday for five days to allow for resurfacing work.
The busy route will be closed between Holburn Street and Balmoral Place for the work, which will be carried out by the city council.
Between 2009 and 2014, drivers received £83,846.01 for damage caused to vehicles as a result of potholes from Aberdeen City Council while Aberdeenshire Council paid out around half that amount – £43,087.84.
And councillor for the area Ian Yuill today said he has had regular complaints from the public regarding the state of the road.
He said: “This is not before time. I hope people will be patient while the works are being carried out.”
Councillor Angela Taylor said: “This is an arterial route and any inconvenience is far outweighed by the improvement of the long-term condition of the road.”
