A housebuilder has raised more than £30,000 for a north-east charity – before its fundraising event has taken place.
CALA Homes organised a business lunch to be held on September 21, with extra money to be generated on the day with an auction and raffle.
But £30,000 has already been netted for Cash for Kids’ Coats for Kids Appeal, after all 32 tables at the lunch were snapped up by north-east businesses.
The good cause aims to ensure disadvantaged children have suitable attire for cold weather over the winter period.
Mike Naysmith, managing director for CALA Homes (North), said: “We have supported various Cash for Kids’ appeals over the years and are pleased to continue this by supporting the lunch.
“We’re very grateful to all the fantastic businesses across the region who have pledged their support.
“No child in the area should have to endure the winter without the proper cold weather essentials and I’d like to urge everyone who is attending to dig deep on the day to help boost the existing fundraising total.”
The event, which will be hosted by broadcaster Grant Stott and feature a performance from comedian Craig Hill, will be held at the Marcliffe Hotel on September 21.
