Another north-east business has fallen victim to fraudsters carrying out a “ringing the changes” fraud.
The Evening Express reported on Tuesday that scammers targeted four shops across the region last Friday and Saturday.
Police said offenders walk into a shop, ask to buy something and then use sleight-of-hand tactics to steal money without staff realising.
The Spar shop and Post Office in Bellabeg near Stathdon was conned out of £100 and firms in Fraserburgh, Insch and Tarland were also hit.
Now Inverurie Business Association (IBA) has said a shop in the town fell victim to a similar scam on Monday.
An IBA spokesman said: “They made us aware of a deception theft whereby a member of staff was asked to exchange Scottish notes for English notes.
“If you experience anything suspicious please report it to the police on 101.”
