And Ben’s blocks have been well received.

He said: “People’s eyes just light up when they see the blocks.

“Sometimes they just want to jump right in there and start building, but other people are a bit taken aback and you need to kind of explain the blocks and what to do.

“But everyone loves LEGO and this is just a bigger, more advanced version of that.

“If you want to make something specific, then we can create a set of Tessay Blocks specific to what you want to build.”

Since creating the blocks this summer, Ben has poured everything into his business and has attracted the interest of garden centres and car companies.

He has now launched a crowdfunding project called “Engineering for Everyone” in a bid to create an online engineering network where fellow Tessay Block builders can share their creations and tips.

Ben said: “I left the oil and gas industry when it was still $100 a barrel and I was making good money, travelling the world.

“It was great, but I much prefer my life here and creating this product.

“This is what I’m happy doing.”
