A north-east brewery has started the countdown for the opening of its American hotel.
Ellon-based craft brewer BrewDog has announced that its hotel, The DogHouse in Ohio, will open in two weeks.
The world’s first crowdfunded craft beer hotel will feature a craft beer spa, a Punk IPA tap in every room and an in-shower beer fridge.
The rooms at the hotel, at the site of the US headquarters in Canal Winchester, will have views over an attached sour beer facility, which will start brewing late this year.
The company’s co-founder James Watt said: “With the number of Equity Punks we now have stateside, as well as our inter-national community of 55,000 shareholders, we’re gearing up to help make the pilgrimage an even more immersive craft beer experience.
“We are just weeks away from opening the doors of the world’s first craft beer hotel, The DogHouse, at our Columbus brewery in Ohio.
“We’re putting the finishing touches to the rooms and hotel foyer, making it the ultimate beer paradise.
“We’ll be welcoming our first guests just after our US AGM, and we’ve already had hundreds of pre-bookings from people keen to get a first look at it.”
The company raised the $75,000 (£61,300) in 30 days to enable the company to fast-track the project’s completion.
The Ohio hotel, which cost $6 million (£4.9m), marked the start of worldwide expansion plans for the north-east brewery, run by founders Mr Watt and Martin Dickie, pictured left.
The firm recently revealed it would open a new bar and restaurant in Peterhead at its annual general meeting in Aberdeen in April.
Meanwhile, plans for the group’s 26-room Ellon hotel remain on course with a projected opening date of early next year.
