A museum is teaming up with one of the world’s largest antique and art auctioneers to raise funds for the future.
The Gordon Highlanders Museum, on Viewfield Road in Aberdeen, will host a free valuation day on March 1 in the Sir Jack Hayward Room from 10am to 3pm, where auctioneers from Bonhams will estimate, on a first come first served basis, the worth of local hidden gems.
Specialists are looking forward to assessing a whole host of hidden treasures ranging from artwork and jewellery, to coins and armour, and have suggested small donations for every item to help fund the future of the museum.
This event is part of the museum’s bid to raise £300,000 by 2020.
There will be a talk prior to the valuation day on Wednesday, February 28 at 6.30pm by Charles Graham-Campbell and Chris Allen, from Bonhams, who will be speaking about North-east military weapons and auctioneering.
Entry is £10 and includes refreshments.
