An artist will debut his work for the first time at a popular Aberdeen cafe.

Thomas Hyman’s paintings will be part of his exhibition entitled FACETS at Foodstory on Thistle Street.

The former Gray’s School of Art student said: “My work is a series of self-portraits and they feature me and people close to me.

“I wanted to express some of their characteristics and what they struggle with.”

The three acrylic painted pieces set to go on display measure 50cm by 76cm.

People will get the chance to see different depictions of negativity in Thomas’ life in dream-like figurative works.

The Peterhead native said: “The skeleton in the background is an allusion to my negativity and so is the smoke coming out of my mouth. My work tends to be dark.

“What I hope people take away from my work is the emotional value.

“The pieces are contemplative and symbolically dense.”

FACETS will be available for viewing from March 3 until March 31, starting 6pm until 9pm upstairs of Foodstory’s cafe.
