Plans have been approved to change the use of a former Aberdeen shop.
Hutcheon Mearns Limited applied to Aberdeen City Council to change the use of the ground floor unit at 21 Midstocket Road from class 1 (shops) to class 4 (business).
The unit has been occupied by Robertson Fireplaces as a showroom with an office for staff since 2017.
A report by planners said the applicant has confirmed the property has been marketed as a retail unit for more than six months with “very limited interest” and without any viewings.
They then opened up the marketing to other uses and were able to attract finance and accounting consultants Hutcheon and Mearns as an occupier.
In approving the application unconditionally, planners said the proposed change of use is “considered acceptable” and would not have a detrimental impact on the residential amenity of the surrounding area.
They said that the proposal would not result in the loss of a long-standing retail function in the area.
