
A LEADING councillor today called for action over a flood-hit road after branding it a death hazard.
Bridge of Don councillor John Reynolds said he would be contacting the UK’s Health and Safety Executive over the risks on Jesmond Drive.
He hit out after heavy rain caused part of the road at the junction with Jesmond Avenue to break up.
A city council spokeswoman said temporary traffic lights would be in place on Jesmond Drive until midnight on Friday.
She added: “The road is closed at the junctions with Jesmond Avenue and Newburgh Drive.
