
A cancer charity has hit its £1million fundraising target after an auction.
Friends of Anchor held its anchor auction at the Chester Hotel this evening as part of its 20for20 project, which celebrates the charity’s 20th anniversary.
14 decorated anchors, all individually designed by local artists went for thousands of pounds at the event.
A total of £349,000 was made, helping the charity to reach its goal of raising £1 million in one year.

The highest selling anchor, The Artist’s Garden, which was designed by Howard Butterworth, sold for £28,000.
Friends of Anchor chairman Jim Milne said: “It’s been a long journey, but these anchors now have new owners – it’s a bittersweet experience.
We are back at the Chester Hotel for part two of the Friends of Anchor 20for20 auction.
