A animal rescue officer was called out in Aberdeen after a snake was found in a van.

The Scottish SPCA was called out just after 2pm following reports the Corn snake, which is non-venomous, was found in a Hertz rental van in the Seaton area.

It is believed the reptile has been in the vehicle for two months. The rental company was alerted about the discovery and stripped the van in a bid to find it, however after nothing was found the vehicle went back out to rent.

Just days after it went back out to rent the snake reappeared.

Scottish SPCA Senior Inspector Alison Simpson said: “Following a call from a member of the public in the Aberdeenshire area we attended an incident where a snake was spotted trapped in a rental van.

“Unfortunately the snake has not yet been located, even with the help of an engineer. The van has now been towed to our Aberdeenshire Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre where the van will be looked at further in order to locate the snake.”
