A big-hearted Aberdeen schoolgirl has cut off her hair in the name of charity.
Alana Christie, 8, decided to donate her long, blonde hair to The Little Princess Trust, a charity that donates real hair wigs to young cancer sufferers across the UK and Ireland.
Mum Morag Christie helped with the fundraising by hosting cake sales and coffee mornings, but insists it was all Alana’s idea.
She said: “She has been so excited about her new haircut.
“I thought she might have cried but she didn’t.”
Alana, from Bridge of Don, braved the big chop along with her family and friends at Image Hair and Beauty on South Mount Street in Rosemount.
As well as donating the hair, Alana will also be handing over the £1,324 raised to The Little Princess Trust.
Glashieburn pupil Alana said: “I wasn’t really scared. My friends at school said it suits me.”
Alana’s younger brother Jay, 6, added: “She can’t stop brushing her hair.”
Hairdresser Doreen Hadden said: “It went really well and she was very brave for doing it.”
