An African football team are appealing to Aberdeen residents to help them compete in a competition.
Matabeleland FC are from Bulawayo in Zimbabwe and are reaching out to the North-east of Scotland because of the links between the two cities.
Aberdeen is the only city in Europe twinned with Bulawayo.
The team are looking to raise funds so they can compete in the World Football Cup in London, a competition for teams that are unaffiliated with FIFA.
They represent the western part of Zimbabwe, which is not recognised as a country by football’s ruling body.
Voluntary head coach Justin Walley said: “For us to get to London, we need to find the finances for 27 return flights and visas, which we hope to raise through crowdfunding and sponsors.”
Mr Walley also said he would love to spend time with Aberdeen FC to improve his coaching skills.
Anyone wishing to support the the team can contact Mr Walley at africa@conifa.org.
