Aberdeen’s Doonies Farm awarded £20,000 to redevelop its children’s play area

An Aberdeen farm has been given funding for a new playpark.

Doonies Rare Breed Farm on Coast Road was awarded £21,280 by utility company SUEZ.

The money will go towards the building of a new playpark for visitors to the farm.

The new setup will be included in a revamped picnic area, with the old playpark being removed to make way for more livestock.

Alice Lennox, the assistant manager at Doonies, said: “Improving our visitor facilities is always a top priority.

“However, because we are a fully working farm finding the time and more importantly, the finances, to fund such a large project is difficult.

“When we were informed about the SUEZ Communities Trust we jumped at the chance to apply and thankfully, we are now able to make a much-needed and overdue improvement to our play area – as well as purchase new picnic benches and hedging.”
