A family fun event cancelled at the last minute has cost the public more than £18,000.
In Town Without My Car Day, which was scheduled to take place on September 16, was called off by Aberdeen City Council hours before it was due to start because of “persistent gusting winds”.
Union Street, Belmont Street, Gaelic Lane and Little Belmont Street had all been closed to traffic on the morning of the environmentally-friendly event before it was cancelled.
The day was designed to encourage people to leave their car at home.
Among the planned attractions was a zip wire down Union Street, a bootcamp and a bungee run.
Although harsh conditions did sweep through the city later in the day, the weather was relatively calm in the morning, and many who had made the trip to take part expressed their anger on social media.

A spokesman for Aberdeen City Council said: “It is unfortunate that we had to cancel this fantastic event.
“However, the safety of our citizens and visitors is of paramount importance, and given the forecast adverse weather, we had no other option but to cancel in order to ensure people were safe from possible harm.”
