Aberdeen road to remain closed for another seven to ten days

Dyce Drive has closed to allow for construction work at the new AECC.

An Aberdeen road is set to remain closed for at least another week.

Dyce Drive are advised that the existing road closure in the area is set to continue for a further week to ten days.

As part of the construction work around the £333 million new Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre, a diversion is in place to allow for the full closure of Dyce Drive between Wellheads Drive and the A96.

However, road users should note that access to the airport will still be possible from Dyce Drive, and the link roads at Craibstone and Wellheads Drive.

Aberdeen City Council, its development partner Henry Boot Developments and main contractor Robertson are in the process of delivering the new AECC facility at Bucksburn, which will open in 2019.

Joe McMenamin, project director at Robertson Major Projects, said: “While the initial road closure had been to allow for resurfacing works to take place it has been determined that repairs to the road surface are required in addition and hence it has been necessary for us to extend this road closure.

“We would encourage commuters to allow for increased travel time, in order to minimise disruption to their schedules. Delays are likely as a result of the work and we apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
