An Aberdeen nightclub has joined a growing number of organisations banning plastic straws.
Institute, on Bridge Place, is swapping plastic straws to a biodegradable alternative to reduce the nightclub’s environmental impact.
General manager Ruth Chisholm said: “From February 19 the only straws we’ll offer to customers will be made from renewable plant sources.
“They’ll biodegrade in six months rather than hundreds of years, so they won’t add to the planet’s pollution problems.”
Straws will no longer be served routinely in drinks, but the biodegradable ones will be available on request.
