AN ABERDEEN mum set to be torn apart from her family in Australia has been overwhelmed by the support she has received.
Lesley McGregor, 39, and her daughter Caitlyn, 2, are fighting a deportation order which would separate them from Lesley’s parents.
The family’s story has garnered attention from all over Australia – and further afield after originally featuring in the Evening Express.
Lesley, from Bridge of Don, today said: “I’d like to say a big thank you to everyone for all the support and I really couldn’t do it without them behind me.
“It’s from the bottom of my heart.
“It’s just been overwhelming. I’ve had lots of letters of support and people putting nice things on the petition.
“Every time I go on Facebook I see my face everywhere.
“When you’re fighting for your daughter you’ve got to do what you’ve got to do.”
A petition to ask the Australian immigration minister to review her case has gathered 1,130 signatures.
