A man has been fined after being caught with hundreds of illegal pills.
Jason Wood, 30, appeared at Aberdeen Sheriff Court yesterday.
He pleaded guilty to possession of the class C drug Etizolam at an address in Urquhart Road, Aberdeen, on June 8.
Fiscal depute Karen Dow said it was 724 pills, valued at £724.
Defence agent David Sutherland said: “They were acquired to help him to sleep.
“There was a combination of domestic issues that disrupted his sleep pattern and also working night shift. He understood they would help him sleep.
“They did, but clearly he understands he ought not to have had them.”
Ms Dow added: “It’s not unusual for someone to be in possession of several hundred for personal use. Such controlled drugs are usually purchased in quantities of 1,000.”
Sheriff Sukhwinder Gill ordered Wood, of Urquhart Road, Aberdeen, to pay a fine of £680.
