An Aberdeen city centre lane was cordoned off today after reports of a woman being sexually assaulted.
Police officers were called to the scene on Diamond Lane, just off Union Street, at 3.30am, following reports of a woman, in her 20s, being assaulted.
The woman is not thought to have been injured, and is “safely with the police”, according to a spokesman for Police Scotland.
Officers shut off Diamond Lane following the incident to make inquiries. A cordon was in place with a police officer standing guard.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: “We received a call at 3.30am, after reports of an assault.
“The female involved was not injured and did not require medical treatment.
“She is safely with the police currently, and officers in the area are making inquiries to ascertain the circumstances of what occurred.
“We’re now trying to get to the bottom of what happened.”
They added: “A female has reported a sexual assault during the early hours.
“Inquiries are at an early stage and the public are thanked for their patience whilst Diamond Lane remains closed.”
